How are we already into WEEK THREE of 2018!! I mean, pretty soon, it'll be July.
Which has me thinking about all the creative options out there, to make your event a moment to remember. So, here's to a few of the Decor and Food trends of 2018!
I like that every year, we take all the great ideas and making them even better. A little secret: there's no such thing as a new idea, just something that you made work for you. 2018 will be the year of taking a little bit of this, to make a whole lot of that!
If you take anything away from this post, remember this... It's fun to keep up with the popular kids, but always remember to do you.
Your event should reflect who you are and what your day is all about. Keep it fun!
Is anyone else as exited as I am about Pantone revealing the colour for 2018 - PURPLE!!! Or Ultraviolet (or Pantone 18-3838 to be exact), brings imagination, vision and creativity. An excellent combination for this year. My brain is whizzing with ideas already.
Navy instead of Black.
If anyone knows me, they know my favourite colour/shade/pigment...is black. It's my power colour. I can walk into any room and be that BOSS my inner voice wants to be.
However! As STUNNING as it is for all special events, it can be a bit harsh. Which is why people are shifting to this equally dramatic but more forgiving colour - Navy Blue. Done right, it can be crisp, clean and modern. Or soft, sweet and elegant. Make it yours!
I love them. I love how they smell. I love how they make you feel. I love how they can transform a room.
I especially love the variety of colours they come in. Pinks, Greens, Yellows, Reds, and Purples. The list goes on and on.
Pantone is giving us some great inspiration this year with the following florals. This luxurious colour comes in so many shades, these arrangements are just examples of the awesome work out there!
Another popular look for this year is *still* the hanging floral arrangements. The ultimate wow-factor! If your working on a budget and want your floral budget to make an impact, go with a few of these and candles everywhere - timeless elegance.
Unique & Interactive
I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love food! One of the best parts of going to events is trying the food, and feeling satisfied throughout the event. It's the one thing people will remember when they leave at the end of the night. So, no pressure!
Cocktail hour is the first opportunity to wow guests, and a great way to show off the theme of the night. If you're looking at having a menu filled with comfort food items, start your night off with something like delicious sliders. Make it interesting with different ingredients, like grilled veggies or organic proteins. Maybe you've decided to buck tradition and go with a "Cheese" wedding cake, and want to set the tone! These Cheese Ball Poppers from Five Heart Home are the perfect start.
Don't forget the afterparty! I don't know about you, but all that dancing and laughing makes me hungry. So a mid-dance snack is always a nice touch. But it doesn't have to be stuffy! Keep it fun and interactive, like a build your own Taco bar!
Who doesn't have a sweet tooth! And while your Caterer can provide a nice selection of desserts after dinner, sometimes it's nice to have something a little extra! The donut bars are still a huge hit! Especially when you include some delicious sauces like Caramel, Chocolate or Butterscotch and fun toppings like sprinkles!
Take that one step further and go with something a little different, and have a Macaron wall! Scale the colours to make an ombre look, pick your favourite flavours and watch the delight on your guests faces!
People are looking for ways to revamp the same old bevies for their day, and presentation is always top of mind.
A delicate way to add a touch of elegance to the drink is edible florals! I know, right? And I do not suggest swiping the flowers out your front porch. Visit your local grocer or specialty store to add the perfect pop of texture and colour to your drink.
Consider adding some coloured simple syrup to add to your favourite drink. This delicious drink is your favourite Mojito with Lavender syrup. And this is just an example of the many different simple syrup flavours you could come up with!
An important addition to your list of refreshments is a non-alcoholic option. There are some pretty crafty ways to keep your guests hydrated without boring them. Consider a sparkling water station. Add some different flavours like citrus, herbs or fruit and you've got some happy (and healthy) options!
There are so many new trends coming up for 2018. What are some of the ones you can't wait to try?!
